Fly Fishing the Yampa River Tailwater

James and Gary hit the Yampa River tailwater below Stagecoach Reservoir just North of the mountain town of Steamboat Springs. The tailwater has undergone a number of significant changes in the last three years, so if you have fished there before, it may not be the same river you remember. However, it still has some spectacular views, big fish, and large crowds.

Flies: Nymphs – Foam Back Baetis Emergers (20), Top Secret Midge (22-26), Syntheta-baetis (18-20); Dries – Purple Haze (18-20), Grey Sprout Midge (20-22), Grizzly Midge (20).
